Nawoj solicits FRCN support over gender violence

The Chairperson Nawoj Abuja chapter congratulated the Director-General on his appointment. She intimated the FRCN Management of the Association’s programmes for the forthcoming campaign against gender violence across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory.

The purpose of the visit according to her was to seek for support from FRCN in the area of publicity and to sensitize people on the rights of women and children.

Remarks 

The Director-General in his response congratulated the Chairperson on her achievement so far and stated that the programmes would bring sanity to the society. He promised that FRCN would co-exist and co-partner with NAWOJ in all its activities.


NIPR seeks partnership with FRCN

 

 

Professor Ike Nwosu who led the team from NIPR stated that the purpose of the meeting was to renew the good relationship that had long existed between NIPR and FRCN and also seek partnership between the two Agencies to achieve vision 202020. He reiterated that without the effective use of the media, especially Radio Nigeria, Nigerians might not buy into the vision.

Remarks

The Director General responding said the proposal for partnership was accepted and promised that FRCN would give full support and cooperation to the institute in its forthcoming Annual Conference /Annual General Meeting slated for November 2009 in Bayelsa State.

 


Nigerian Association of Technologists

 

The purpose of  the visit was to create awareness of the existence of Nigeria Association of Technologists in Engineering and also plead with FRCN to register its staff who were yet to register with the body as well as approve their participate at her AGM stated for 15th October 2009 at the Women Development Center, Abuja.

Remarks

The Director General responded that FRCN is one of the largest consumers of NATE products as without the involvement of her members, FRCN operations will be hampered. He commended the association for its remarkable achievement in breaking the disparity between Polytechnic and University graduates in Engineering and promised FRCN’s hand of fellowship through NATE members that are in Radio Nigeria.

 

 

African Industrial and Human Development Trust Fund

 

 The Purpose was to reach out to the public through the largest Radio Network in Africa on its forthcoming women conference slated for 19th November 2009 in Bamako Mali. The Director General of the trust fund requested for nomination to serve in the planning committee for the conference.

Remarks

Responding, the Director General Stated that the mandate of the trust fund was in line with Federal Government policies. He promised that FRCN would work closely with the Trust Fund to see that its objectives are achieved.

 


FRCN Board applauds rule of law

 

 The current rule of law in Nigeria has been described as a revolutionary trend where the oppressed could go to the Court to seek redress.

The Chairman Board of Directors of FRCN Rt. Hon. Chief Boyelayefa Debekeme stated this during a working visit to Paramount FM Abeokuta.

Chief Debekeme said for the first time in the political history of Nigeria, opposition could go to Court and get justice.

The Chairman gave an assurance that all the equipment of Radio Nigeria Stations would be digitalized in accordance with world standards.

The FRCN Training school would be repositioned to a degree awarding institution to meet the modern training and retraining of the staff.

The Chairman said the Board would soon come up with series of staff motivation policies without compromising discipline.

Chief Debekeme stated that every step was being taken to ensure the completion of yet to take off FM Stations nationwide.


COMMUNICATION: FRCN & Eriksson to explore possible areas of mutual benefits

 

 

 

The chairman of the FRCN Board of Directors, Chief Boyelayefa Debekeme, said the collaboration would be of great benefit to Radio Nigeria especially in the area of clean signals.

Chief Debekeme said despite the numerous challenges being faced by the Corporation, it had embarked on the upgrade of its equipment nationwide.

The Managing Director of the Eriksson Group, Mr. Leif Edwall, proposed a follow-up meeting between the two parties to discuss further on specific areas of co-operation.

The Nigeria Ambassador to Spain, Mr. Bola Igali, who was also part of the talks, expressed the hope that the visit would further enhance broadcasting in the country.

The Director-General of FRCN, Mallam Yusuf Nuhu presented to the guests some vital documents about the Corporation.


House of Representatives spokesman visits FRCN

 

 

 

 The House of Representatives spokesman, Honorable Eseme Eyiboh, led a delegation of House members to Radio Nigeria.
He informed the Director General that the House is desirous of getting to the grassroot through the radio.

He therefore solicited for a special programme for the parliament where they can reach the masses.

The visiting team elaborated on some of the constituency projects and on how to make governance more efficient through the input and output process.

Honorable Eseme Eyiboh condoled the Director General and the staff of FRCN over the recent fire incident at FRCN Gwagwalada.

 REMARKS

In his response, the DG, Bar. Yusuf Nuhu pledged the support of the Corporation to the House in ensuring that the populace derive the full benefit of democracy through the legislative activities of the members.


 

 

DG Nigerian Copyright Commission  visits FRCN

 

Mr. Adebambo Adewopo, Director General of Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) made known the development of strategic plans to build a culture of respect for intellectual properties among Nigerians when he visited Radio Nigeria office in Abuja.

He however, called for the support of FRCN in ensuring the success of the exercise and the campaign against piracy which should extend to the grassroot.

NCC DG also acquainted the Corporation with the Commission’s incoming 20th anniversary celebration in September.

Barr. Yusuf Nuhu, the DG, FRCN in his response congratulated the commission on its success over the years and promised FRCN continuous support for NCC programmes.


Society of Nigeria Artists, seeks collaboration with FRCN, appoints DG patron

 

 

 

The Society of Nigeria Artists wants re-branding the country.

The Chairman of the Society, Mr. Eze Obizue who led his executive members on a courtesy visit to FRCN management stated that the appreciation of art works by Nigerians will lead to great impact of the rebranding campaign outside the country.

In his response, the Director General of FRCN, Mallam Yusuf Nuhu said, like most developed countries, Art works could be used to generate more employment in the society.

The society which was established in 1964 solicited the collaboration of the Corporation of its activities and made the DG one of the patrons of the body.

 


Commissioner for Information Plateau State visits Radio Nigeria

 

 

 

 

The Commissioner for Information Plateau State, Mr. Gregory Yenlong visited Radio Nigeria for the purpose of seeking collaboration between the State Government and Radio Nigeria in her bid to ensure lasting peace in the State.

In his statement, Mr. Yenlong sought the Director General’s cooperation with the State Government in her campaign for peace.

He requested for early completion of the Highland FM in Jos, Plateau State to help complement whatever the State Government was doing in this regard.

Responding, the Director General Bar. Yusuf Nuhu promised an early take – off of the FM Station. He gave assurance that Radio Nigeria would collaborate with the State Government through the Ministry of Information to ensure that peace prevails in the State.


 

 

Saharawi Ambassador seeks support

 

The Saharawi Republic has urged Nigeria and other African countries to support its struggle for sovereignty and respect for human rights.

The Ambassador of Saharawi in Nigeria, Mr. Oubi Bachir made the call in Abuja when he visited the Management of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.

Mr. Bachir expressed regret that countries bordering the Saharawi Republic were still violating the rights of the people in spite of the intervention of the United Nations.

Nuhu said Nigeria had always ensured that all African countries were free from all kinds of oppression.
