Work tools for prison inmates

The Nigerian Prisons Service has distributed work tools worth twenty million Naira to about forty prison inmates who have undergone various skill acquisition programmes of the service.

At the ceremony in Abuja, the Controller General of the Service, Mr. Olusola Ogundipe noted that the gesture was to enable the inmates settle down to a productive life.

He said the skill acquisition programmes in prisons across the country was strategy to collaborate with other security agencies for a safe and secure nation.
 
Mr. Ogundipe however called on the public, the organized private sector and non-governmental organizations to collaborate with the Nigerian Prisons Service in its efforts to provide necessary support for the reformation, rehabilitation and re-integration of prison inmates.
 
According to the Radio Nigerian Correspondent, some of the prisoners are currently undergoing several courses under the Nigerian Open University programme.
