Work out equitable formula for employment, FCC tasks VCs

Vice Chancellors have been urged to work out equitable formula for employment into all cadres in the Universities.

This is to ensure that all segments of the society are represented in accordance with the law.

The Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Professor Shuaibu Oba-AbdulRaheem made the appeal in Abuja at a sensitization workshop for Vice-Chancellors and Registrars with the theme ‘‘Actualizing Federal Character objectives in University Administration’’                                                               

 He explained that this would also play a major role in the cross-fertilization of ideas that would engender national unity and development.

Professor Oba-AbdulRaheem said compliance with proportional principle of sharing would help the University system to attract the necessary feedback in line with global best practices.

Two of the participants, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Professor Chinedu Nebo, and the Vice-Chancellor Federal University Lafia, Professor Ekanem Braide noted that the workshop would help to reduce the fear of deprivation and marginalization in the University system.

In a remark, the Chairman, Committee on Universities in the Federal Character Commission, Alhaji Mai-Aliyu Muhammad said Universities, by their concept should provide a clear direction for the actualization of value systems and national unity.
